The complete set of the twenty songs for three and four voices by Johannes Ockeghem (1410-1497). This composer from Hainaut, like his master Gilles Binchois, was also influenced by Guillaume Dufay of Cambrai. After serving the lavish court of Charles I of Bourbon, he entered the service of the King of France, Louis XI, while also being a canon of Notre-Dame de Paris. His fame was great during his lifetime. His contemporaries called him “son and pearl of Music”, “flower of musicians” or again “Vray trésorier de Musique” (true treasurer of Music). His posthumous glory was equally great, as several renowned composers and poets, including Josquin des Prés, composed a “tombeau” in his memory.
